Section 16: Dreams of Predictions and Prophesy

Twenty-two dreams in the collection were apparently experienced as predictive or prophetic by dreamers themselves. A few of these, it is clear in hindsight, were accurate or near accurate anticipations of the actions of the Trump administration and their impact on the nation, and most were not.

Here we also encounter dreamers who approach their dreams from a position of literalism and prediction:

In December 2017 a CNN reporter found top secret documents from the Biowatch program that laid out potential preventative and after-responses to an imagined biochemical attack on the Superbowl that had been left behind in the seat pocket on a plane. The report was released in February after the game and summoned this prediction:

It's happening. Remember when I told you guys I dreamt Trump dropped a biological weapon on us and we all died. This is it.😩 [i]‍ ‍‍ ‍

Others seem to imply nocturnal fortune-telling might help to protect the president:

I had dream 2 nites ago about terrorist attack by 4 men in Washington, DC. President Trump needs to vamp up security. Attack took place in a mall near a Government building. [ii]‍ ‍

Several seemed confident that their dreams were forecasting his pending departure from office:

I had a dream trump stepped down from being president. I've been known to have prophetic dreams.[iii]‍ ‍

Had a dream (hopefully a premonition) that I had an impromptu meeting with Donald Trump in which he eluded to being "almost outa here" [iv]‍ ‍Trump might be Gone by June or September. I had a Dream and it was sunny/warm without Trump. [v]‍ ‍

One dreamer recounted a lengthy dream of coming into secret information:

 I, and I alone, had THE single piece of evidence/info that would bring trump down. Unfortunately, this would also ruin my life. This info was like a mixture of the Stormy revelations and definite ex. of obstruction of Justice. ‍ ‍

They woke feeling deeply encouraged and confident:

This dream helped me realize there is a lot of behind the scenes work in #TrumpRussia. Good people do have helpful info that will bring this admin down, so do not worry- they're walking a tight rope, now, but it will eventually come out. Don't stress y'all! We will win! ‍ ‍Now, back to sleep. It was a crazy political dream, but it has brought me peace, for now. I cannot explain how I felt- hold such info- but just know, it's a lot to shoulder. Thank you for everyone who has stepped forward with info and is speaking out! I now know it's difficult.[vi]  

Other dreamers expressed more uncertainty about the accuracy of potential foreknowledge in their dreams:

@realDonaldTrump I had a dream that the day after New Years charges dropped on the Trump clan... Waiting to see[vii]‍

Since Trump has been president, I’ve had recurring vivid nightmares where I watch as a nuclear bomb falls right outside my window and kills everyone. This is especially frightening for me because every single recurring dream I’ve had before this one has come true.[viii]‍

Some hoped that the symbolic content in their dreams properly deciphered, would predict something about the nation’s future:  

FIRST DREAM I HAD ABOUT TRUMP WAS HE WAS POINTING A CROSSBOW WITH A GOLDEN ARROW IN IT! ECOMONIC PROSPERITY? [ix]‍ ‍

This morning I had a dream that all the tarot readers around the world were collectively predicting trump would get impeached on a particular day and we were calling it Toggle Day (toggling our having an awful president status to OFF)[x]

Five dreamers expressed that their dreams had informed them in advance for Trump’s successful campaign: ‍ ‍

I remember when I had dreamt that Trump won the presidency before he actually had “won.” I woke up feeling disgusted and like it was a joke. This was the feeling for awhile, but now the feeling is more like I’m living in a dystopian wasteland where existence as a whole is a joke. [xi]‍ ‍

2 months before the Nov 8 the had a dream Trump was going to win (his portrait was on a wall) and then I met him at a cocktail party and he was the potus. He won despite the polls.[xii]  

Two of the dreams seem to have accurately foretold enduring realties we are still facing in his second term:  

I had a dream that Trump stuck to his campaign promise regarding immigration. No amnesty [xiii]‍ ‍

I had a vision/dream that Trump was in the Oval with a few other people and he said, “Did we get the Bitcoin money?” It really stuck with me. I would never underestimate these hackers and which side he’s on.[xiv]‍ ‍

An article published in Politico late in January 2018 – “Analysis: Millions of Americans believe God made Trump president”  – provoked many to share dreams that they saw as prophetic and as proof that Trump was divinely appointed. Here dreams are experienced in their most concrete form, as expressing an essential reality that the world will be forced to comply with, God’s will, a story already written, that we are all fated to live out or fall further into sin. There is no further negotiating or tension between the day-world and the dream over which is morally or factually correct. The dream is experienced as a glimpse of an ultimate reality.

He did, I had a dream in 9/2007 but because I had only heard of Trump a couple of times in my life had no idea it was him...Even a train was in that dream... [xv]‍

mom also had a dream before the election that Trump was going to win and that it was with God's blessing! [xvi]    

Other’s saw him as the prophesied Anti-Christ:

I had a dream. Christ told me trump was the president, but the euangelion was not for much longer!!! [xvii]‍ ‍

The night trump announced his candidacy on the escalator I dreamt God came to me and told me he was the anti-Christ. I didn't know anything about him except he was a rich New Yorker. Since then, I've been paying attention. He scares me! [xviii]

Many propagandist “bots” (autogenerated accounts from Russian bot farms) tweeted “dreams” of such religious prophesies which I initially excluded from the collection before I began to think about how such primal archetypal propaganda exerted influence over our national conversation. Two dreamers saw their Trump dream as indicators of the trajectory of their own personal fates, as a curse or a blessing:

I used to have a reoccurring nightmare most my life that a Caligula like president executed me reality TV mixed with gladiator style because I wouldn't bow to them. So needless to say, I have flashbacks to my dream quite often these days & am on edge often, [xix]‍ ‍

I had dream last night where I met and shook Trumps hand, is this a good sign of my life turning around? #fixmylife #maga #Trump[xx]
