Section 17: Dreams of Social Media and PSYOPs
In 2017 after his inauguration Donald Trump was certainly the first president to utilize Twitter as a political weapon pointing stochastic violence and harassment toward anyone he saw as an enemy, as a method for international “diplomacy” and as an outlet for announcing official federal policy.
Approximately fourteen dreams in the collection focused specifically on Donald Trump’s use of Twitter.
Five dreamed of his account being silenced entirely:
Last night I dreamt that Donald Trump posted a tweet which received no replies, likes or retweets so he stepped down peacefully[i]
@realDonaldTrump I had a dream last night that when the government shut down your twitter stopped working. It was a nice dream, but alas, here you are[ii]
I had a dream that someone sat down next to me and said “did you hear? Trump was deleted”[iii]
Three people dreamed that the president attacked them personally via his Twitter account:
Last night I dreamt Donald Trump quote tweeted one of my tweets to talk bad about women’s rights and my twitter feed blew up and everyone was asking me to take their picture. I woke up thinking it was so real. [iv]
I had a twitter dream. I found out someone was impersonating me on the orders of Donald Trump[v]
I had a dream where Donald Trump called me an ugly celery stick on Twitter[vi]
Others dreamed of being blocked by the president, or of his generally erratic and uninhibited use of the social media platform:
Had a dream that Trump tweeted “John Fuck” [vii]
Two dreamers hoped that Trump’s social media use was winning the hearts and minds of the nation:
I had a dream that everyone started loving @realDonaldTrump and social media became very boring again. We need less winning President Trump! [viii]
Half of the dreams about Trump and social media were opportunities for the dreamer to protest or undermine the president’s agenda.
I had a dream that I was picking on Donald Trump because he was trying to log onto Twitter and it wouldn’t let him log on. I kept laughing and shouting “what’s wrong Donald!?” [ix]
Recently I had a dream that someone posted a photo on social media of me holding up a banner that said “TRUMP SUCKS!!!!” [x]
I dreamt I signed into Trump’s twitter account and posted a bunch of embarrassing statuses and confessions[xi]
There was a related social media dream phenomena that took me some time, in twenty-seventeen and eighteen, to recognize.
Bots.
Bots were regularly tweeting “dreams” about Donald Trump, from accounts identified with a long string of numbers, and stock photo profile photos. Accounts auto-generated by software applications imitating human activity spewing “dreams” replicated word for word over hundreds of accounts, retweeted by other bots and by human run accounts.
I initially experienced them as a nuisance, and generally blocked and reported the accounts, until it became clear to me that these “bot farms” - hired by political campaigns or perhaps – for the tweets with strange syntax - by foreign nations such as Russia, with a stake in the elections or generating unconscious instinctive responses in social media users, both pro- and anti- Trump in equal proportions.
Manufactured “dreams” of Trump as Messiah, and as Antichrist. Many of them directed to @realDonaldTrump, some in response to specific topical events or responses to news items, a sea of fake, manipulative crafted dreams swirling in and around human ones.

@realDonaldTrumpYo Trump I had a dream about you and saw in the dream about you and I saw in that dream you were dead. my dreams don’t lie and better yet it always come real.
I had a dream last night Bette Miller dressed up in a pink sweater covered up with a camouflage jacket and we head to listen to her new friend give a speech. Donald Trump! It was glorious to see she came around!
I had a dream last night Ivanka Trump is going to be the first woman president of United States Of American and if I could vote for her one millions times. My dreams comes true.
Last night I dreamed Donald Trump had called it quits and resigned the presidency seriously! MAGA
@realDonaldTrump Americans will run Trump out of office then out of the country. He will kill himself just like Hitler. Losers take the easy way out. I dreamed this and my dreams are real.
From a repetitive bot campaign, different accounts all with the same “bio” that reads I AM AN AMERICAN PATRIOT, LOVE THE CONSTITUTION, MAGA & MY PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP came the following text:
Donald Trump won before he came down the escalator. I had a dream 2 weeks before he announced he was running. in the dream he was being sworn in wearing a long black coat & red tie. I knew God the Spirit of all life gave me that dream I told ppl. About it.
We are now used to the notion that bots and psy ops attempt to seed conspiracy theories and spin public opinion, generally by spreading disinformation. But I’d suggest it is important to understand that dream images and the notion of dream revelations are used to further activate and polarize the public response to Trump’s presidency.
