Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Drawn with ProCreate on iPad

I am with a group of people in Washington DC. We are near the Reflecting Pool, I think? But I don’t remember seeing it. What I do remember seeing is a grassy space, an elongated spot of grass that is elevated about 2-3 feet above the surrounding grass, exposing the dark, rich soil underneath. Much like an organic cross section of soil. There is a small monument or group of monuments. The most immediate monument is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It’s really moving - a granite fixture that looks like an open doorway with flowers around it and on it. Then I look to the left and see a gold sculpture that looks like a giant, sad, sagging baseball mitt with the half the webbing missing, and Trump’s grinning face on it. It almost seems like a bench, but no one can really sit on it. Trump or his people have put it here, next to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I shake my head in disgust and think, “That man ruins everything.” The people in my group agree. However, I notice that I am able to get a picture of the monument with a beautiful natural setting in the background, effectively cropping out the gold bench-mitt. I do so, and feel a sense of loveliness and relief. I also think that we need to remove the gold sculpture as soon as Trump is out of office; before, if possible.
